14-Day Grenadines Sailing Itinerary — Grenada to Bequia and Back

A 14-day Grenadines itinerary from Grenada reaches the northern Grenadines — Bequia, Mustique and Canouan — then works back south through the Tobago Cays to Carriacou and Grenada. About 200 nautical miles round-trip with two unscheduled weather days and no leg over 35 nautical miles.

Why go north before the Cays?

Because the trades are east-northeast, and the northbound legs are better done early while the crew is fresh. Working north to Bequia first means the back half is downwind, short-legged and unhurried — the Tobago Cays land near the end rather than as a turnaround point.

Questions about this itinerary

Is two weeks too long on a catamaran?

Not at this pace. The 14-day has three days with no passage and two spare days, and no leg exceeds 35 nautical miles. Guests who find a week too compressed usually find two weeks is where the trip stops feeling like a schedule.

What does Bequia add?

The best town on the route. Admiralty Bay has a real waterfront, model-boat workshops, restaurants, a turtle sanctuary and Princess Margaret Beach — and unlike the Cays it works as a rest day rather than a snorkel day.

Can we land on Mustique?

Usually, with permission. Mustique is privately managed with day-visitor rules and a mooring fee. The captain confirms access before we commit the day. If landing isn’t cleared we substitute Canouan or an extra Cays night.

What if the trades are strong?

We drop Mustique before we drop the second night in the Tobago Cays, and the Day 10 spare absorbs the rest. Strong-trades weeks from mid-December through January are the common case, and the itinerary is built to flex, not break.

How many countries do we clear?

Two — Grenada and St Vincent & the Grenadines. The captain clears out of Grenada at Carriacou and into SVG at Union, reversing it on the return. Clearance offices keep local hours, which is why the captain plans arrivals before mid-afternoon.

Do we stop at the same islands twice?

Carriacou and sometimes Canouan, yes — on the way up and the way back. They are different stops each time: Tyrrel Bay for the harbour, Sandy Island for the reef, Charlestown for provisions.

Can we change the route?

Within reason. This is a skippered charter, not a fixed tour. The captain’s constraints are weather, clearance hours and the Kick ’em Jenny exclusion zone. Within those, tell us what you want more of and we’ll shape the days around it.

What about provisioning for two weeks?

You top up mid-trip. Bequia and Clifton on Union both have decent groceries and markets; Petit Martinique is the duty-free stop for drinks. We’ll send a two-stage provisioning list.
